winter skin is a different beast tbh

The heating came on properly this week. First time since March or whenever, and within about two days my skin just... tightened up. That sensation where your face feels like it's slightly too small for your face. You know the one. I always forget how fast the change hits. Summer skin is relatively forgiving — or maybe the humidity just does the heavy lifting and I never notice. But the moment central heating gets involved it's a completely different situation. Especially around my jaw and forehead. Menopause hasn't helped with any of this, my skin is drier than it used to be and I can't really pretend otherwise. What I've actually noticed this year — and I'm not saying this fixes anything, it's just what I've found — is that keeping up with collagen consistently through autumn and winter makes a difference to how my skin feels from the inside if that makes sense. Not plump in some dramatic way. Just... less tight? Less like parchment? I've been adding it to warm water in the evenings instead of the morning matcha because the collagen sits better for me that way. No idea if that's a real thing or something I've invented. Anyway. Richer moisturiser is back in rotation. The SPF is staying on because honestly the low winter sun is deceptive. And I've booked a GP catch-up about the skin dryness alongside the other menopause stuff because I'd rather have an actual professional involved than just guess my way through it.

i genuinely didn't realise how much i was relying on summer air until the heating came on and my whole face just felt... parched

the drop in humidity indoors is brutal for the skin barrier, central heating basically desiccates the air
