Vanille Protein Matcha

bad matcha in a latte is actually a decent rescue, the milk masks most of it
1I actually tried just the matcha and the same milk and it didn’t mask it enough 😅 I usually have no problem drinking matcha latte but with this one at least a little more was needed XD
what protein powder are you using? some of them are sweet enough to mask even pretty grim matcha
sportness WHEY protein powder (vanilla flavor). It’s somewhat sweet (I once used different almond milk, which was also, according to the package, free of added sugars, for a simpel shake and it was nearly too sweet) but with my usual almond milk it’s just right. It has some sweetener in it. I was actually surprised the end product didn’t taste more sweet, that matcha is really bitter.
I might have to try different milks, maybe my almond milk is not good latte material on its own lol
do you think it works the same with whey or does it go lumpy?
1whey goes lumpy for me if the liquid isn't warm enough, plant-based mixes way cleaner
Do you have any recommendations for plant based protein powder? I sadly have only made bad experiences so far with it, so I’ve been sticking with the one good whey flavor I’ve found XD
I actually used whey protein powder for this. I prepared it in a glass jar separately with the milk (so I could shake it) and then added it. But that powder is the only one that dissolves with (close to) no lumps without using a shaker or electric mixer that I have found so far. The plant based version from the same brand sadly did not perform as well. So I think it depends a lot on which specific product you have. I didn’t want to use my matcha whisk for it, but that or anything equivalent might also help prevent lumps. I’ve also tested using a sieve for other protein powders that did clump and there it also helped prevent the worst of those clumps.
