summer skin and why I've stopped overcomplicating it

So I've had eczema basically my whole life and for years I genuinely thought the answer was more — more products, more steps, more actives. Every summer I'd panic because my skin behaves completely differently when it's warm and humid and I'd just throw stuff at it hoping something would stick. This year I've done the opposite. I stripped it right back and honestly? The fewer things I put on my face, the calmer it's been. My whole summer routine is basically a gentle fragrance-free wash in the morning, thermal water spray when I feel tight or irritated (which in this weather is constantly lol), and a really light moisturiser. That's it. No serums, no layers of stuff fighting each other. Night time I just repeat more or less the same thing. I've also been consistent with my collagen in the mornings — I know that's more of an inside thing but I do feel like it helps with the overall texture and sensitivity over time, to be fair. Can't prove it obviously and I'm not saying it'll work the same for everyone. Mind you it took me years of trial and error and a lot of bad skin weeks to get to this point. There were definitely summers where I thought I'd cracked it and then my face had other ideas. I think the main thing I've learnt is that what works in winter just doesn't translate — thicker creams, heavier oils, all of that feels suffocating once the temperature goes up even slightly. Lighter everything, basically. Anyway. Curious if anyone else with sensitive skin has gone more minimal for summer or if you've found the opposite helps — I feel like skin is so individual I genuinely can't assume my approach works for anyone else.

did you notice a difference straight away or did it take a few weeks to calm down?
