skin feels different this time of year and I always forget

Every September without fail my skin just... shifts. Gets a bit dull, occasionally flaky round the nose, and I always spend two weeks thinking I need a new moisturiser before I remember — oh, it's just the season changing. Honestly the biggest thing for me is hydration from the inside. I know that sounds like something off a wellness Instagram but it's just true — when I'm eating more warming soups and less of the cold salads and fruit I default to in summer, I notice my water intake quietly drops. Skin shows it pretty quickly on me. I've also started being a bit more deliberate about omega-3s as autumn comes in. More oily fish, some walnuts in my porridge. Nutritionally speaking there's decent evidence that dietary fats play a role in skin barrier function — not a cure-all, mind, but worth thinking about if yours tends to get tight and reactive around this time of year. The other thing — and this is dead simple — is just not stripping your skin with hot showers when the weather turns. I am very much guilty of this and my skin absolutely hates me for it every October.

hydration always tanks for me in autumn without noticing

same every year, I always blame my products first before clocking it's just the air getting drier. takes me an embarrassingly long time to figure out

the soup thing is real actually, I didn't clock how much liquid I was getting from summer fruit until I stopped eating it

the shift hits different when you're still training hard too — sweat loss adds up and you don't feel as thirsty in the cold so it just quietly compounds

this happens to me every single year without fail, I clock it way too late. always think it's stress or I need a new serum or something but nah it's just October doing its thing
