matcha yogurt bowl — 5 minutes, no cooking
Right so I've basically run out of ideas for quick breakfasts this week and this is what happened.
Thick Greek yogurt, a pinch of culinary grade matcha stirred straight in, a drizzle of honey, then whatever was in the bowl on the counter — today that was blueberries and a handful of toasted oats. Done.
The matcha does go a bit patchy if you don't mix it properly first — the trick is to whisk it with just a teaspoon of warm water before you add the yogurt, otherwise you get little green lumps and honestly it's a bit grim.
Ingredients (1 serving)
- 150g full-fat Greek yogurt
- 1 tsp culinary grade matcha powder
- 1 tsp warm water (just to dissolve the matcha)
- 1 tsp honey
- Handful of blueberries
- 2 tbsp rolled oats, toasted dry in a pan
What to do
Whisk the matcha with the warm water until smooth. Stir into the yogurt. Top with blueberries, oats, honey. That's genuinely it.
Nutritionally speaking, you're looking at roughly 280–300 kcal, around 18–20g protein from the yogurt, and a decent hit of antioxidants. The oats add a bit of slow-release carbohydrate which helps if you've got a busy morning. Full-fat yogurt keeps you fuller longer too — the low-fat versions tend to have more added sugar to compensate, mind you.
You can swap the blueberries for whatever's in season. I'd imagine it'd be proper lush with some sliced strawberries in summer.
