hip flexors were TIGHT and I finally did something about it

Right so I've been doing yoga on and off for years but never really took warm-ups seriously for anything else — like if I was going for a run or doing a bodyweight session I'd basically just… start. And then wonder why my hips felt like concrete. Someone in my yoga class mentioned hip flexor activation and honestly I dismissed it for ages because it sounds like the kind of thing people say but don't really explain. But I tried a proper 8-minute thing before my last session — hip circles, low lunge holds, some glute bridges — and I'm not joking my whole workout felt different. Less grinding. More like my body was actually ready to move. I think working from home doesn't help. I sit at my desk for hours, Chai curled up somewhere nearby equally unbothered, and by the time I get on my mat everything is just seized up. The warm-up basically undoes a day of sitting? That's the only way I can describe it. It's dead simple too — nothing fancy. Just slow, intentional movement before you push into anything harder. I feel like I've been skipping the most important part this whole time tbh.

sitting all day then going straight into a run is brutal on the hips, I notice it way more in my splits when I've been desk-bound

what was the 8-minute thing exactly — did you follow a specific video or just piece it together yourself?
